Future directions of Microsoft Application Platform

Take the chance to meet with the Microsoft Application Platform Product Group from Redmond in Stockholm. In collaboration with the Swedish SQL User Group we’ve invited the Microsoft product teams to come and talk about high-level roadmap for each of the products, along with technical drill-downs and demos.

The Swedish BizTalk User Group has many times been fortunate to present speakers with great expertise of BizTalk and related technologies. However, we’ve never had anyone with the insight knowledge of where the platforms are moving, as we have at this event.

This event will hold five sessions, and will start at 16:00 on the 29th of September. The agenda will begin with two sequential Roadmap sessions, after which we’ll take a break for something to eat and drink.

After the break we’ll continue with two parallel drill-down sessions on each of the platforms. Please select which of the two sessions you’d like to attend, by choosing either of the two ticket types. You may also choose , to only attend the roadmap sessions.

Session details

AppFabric/BizTalk Roadmap

The AppFabric CAT team will cover the current and future directions for:

·         Windows Server AppFabric,

·         BizTalk Server 2010

·         Windows Azure AppFabric.

Roadmap SQL 11 and Beyond

The SQLCAT team will provide an:

·         Overview of the SQL Server roadmap

·         Insight into the features and functionality that SQL 11 codenamed ‘Denali’ will include:

o   OLTP scale Denali update

o   SSIS Denali Enhancements

o   Readable secondary improvements in SQL 11

Designing High Scale OLTP systems

·         With the combination of Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2 it has now become possible to run SQL Server on up to 256 Cores. Recently, the SQL CAT team had a customer in the lab to test a banking application at high scale-up. Previously, we had test runs for the same application on 32-cores – but now the time had come to stress the app to 128 Cores.

·         In this session, I will talk about the lessons we learned from stress testing an OLTP workload at this scale. You will see some interesting bottlenecks and get an idea of what sort of numbers are achievable on a big SQL Server box. Of course, I will also provide you with the guidance on how to get those numbers.

Management Tasks Made Simpler in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010

In this session we discuss managing BizTalk Server, both for small and large deployments. We discuss what we are doing in BizTalk 2010 to make BizTalk management simpler, to facilitate performance optimization via unified dashboard for settings, to improve diagnostics and control with a new Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) pack, etc. We also discuss our vision for manageability in future releases and the roadmap to achieve that vision.
